A face cradle, also known as a headrest, is an essential attachment for a massage table and has a lot to do with the experience of the client’s session. It is designed to accommodate the client’s head while they are facing down on their stomach during treatment. They are typically u-shaped and come in various styles and materials, which can sometimes make it difficult when it comes to decide which one to purchase. They also come in two parts; the face cradle platform and the face pillow.
 | Some things to take into consideration when using or choosing a new face cradle is the shape of the platform. If the platform is flat, it will not be as molding to the face as a contoured-shaped platform that conforms to the face shape a bit more. Contoured-shaped platforms are known to reduce sinus pressure which could be more comfortable for your clients. Adjustability is another feature that will help ensure the client’s comfort such as the height and how much it tilts. The length and diameter of the rods that go into the massage table are other factors to take into consideration based on the massage table that it is used. Last but not least the face pillow which comes in a variety of sizes and materials will also determine your client’s comfort. |

The dowels of all three platforms measure 8″ on center and fit all our massage tables.
We still offer our Stronglite Vintage Platform for holes that are 11″ apart with 1/4″ metal dowels.
Choosing a Face Pillow
Most if not all face pillows are u-shaped and they come in a variety of materials. The material is an important feature to take into consideration when choosing a face pillow. Memory foam seems to be the most popular stuffing material because it increases comfort and gives a more spa-like experience, as well a mix of Memory Foam with other foam is available. Our Memory Foam is CFC free, made from temperature-sensitive viscoelastic foam, and is the most comfortable. One thing to keep in mind is that the type and quality of the foam and the upholstery type determine the price point.
